What happened
ESA and JAXA's BepiColombo spacecraft jettisoned its Mercury Transfer Module on September 3, 2026, beginning the final approach to Mercury orbit insertion on November 21. The mission is a year late due to Solar Electric Power system issues requiring a replanned trajectory. Science operations are set to commence in April 2027.
