What happened
OpenAI is committing $5 million to fund independent research on how generative AI affects the development and lives of teens aged 13–17, covering areas like learning, creativity, and advice-seeking. Applications are open via their grant portal.
Why it matters
This is a vendor CSR/funding announcement with no direct impact on what builders ship or decide. The only actionable path is if you are an academic researcher eligible to apply for the grant; otherwise there is nothing to change.
Discussion angle
Brief mention only: note that OpenAI is funding teen-AI impact research, and move on—no engineering or product takeaway for this community.
