What happened
Nothing Ear (3a) earbuds are now available for pre-order in Malaysia at RM399, with open sales starting 20 September 2026. The standout feature is 32MB onboard flash enabling 'Audio Snapshot' (captures up to 1 minute including 30 pre-trigger seconds) and call recording up to 2 hours, both syncing to the Nothing X app for replay, transcription, and shareable quote cards.
Why it matters
The built-in call recording with app-side transcription is a cheap, hardware-based alternative for anyone who currently uses separate apps or services to capture meeting audio — worth knowing if you record calls for notes or content. At RM399 it undercuts most dedicated recording setups, though the 2-hour cap and privacy notification limit professional use.
Discussion angle
Does earbud-level call recording with auto-transcription disrupt any lightweight note-taking or meeting-summary workflows, or is the 2-hour cap and mandatory privacy notification too restrictive for real working use?
