What happened
Best Buy is offering $600 off the Asus ROG Strix G18, an 18-inch gaming laptop with an RTX 5080, 32GB RAM, and a 2TB SSD. The article text itself is almost entirely site boilerplate with no additional technical detail beyond the headline.
Why it matters
This is a consumer retail deal with no actionable takeaway for builders. The RTX 5080 laptop GPU could be relevant for local AI/ML experimentation, but the article provides no benchmark data, pricing context, or availability outside the US to support a purchasing decision.
Discussion angle
Whether RTX 5080-class laptops are now viable for local LLM inference and fine-tuning, and what the real VRAM/compute trade-offs are versus cloud — but this article doesn't provide enough detail to anchor that conversation.
