What happened
iCaur Malaysia has added a rear-wheel drive CKD variant of the iCaur 03, assembled at Chery Corporate Malaysia's Shah Alam plant, priced at RM119,740 — essentially unchanged from the RM119,800 CBU RWD launched last September. It uses a 65.7 kWh LFP battery with a 426 km NEDC (est. 362 km WLTP) range, a 135 kW / 220 Nm rear motor, 80 kW DC and 6.6 kW AC charging, and 3.3 kW V2L, with a 7-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty plus a 10-year/200,000 km high-voltage battery warranty including 1-to-1 replacement if SoH falls below 60%. A Phantom Edition adds RM20,000 for an all-black colourway, body panels, sidebox and side ladder.
Why it matters
This is a consumer car launch and does not give developers, AI/ML learners, or SaaS founders anything to change or decide. The only builder-adjacent detail is that CKD assembly at Shah Alam shipped at price parity with CBU (RM119,740 vs RM119,800), which is a data point about Malaysian local-assembly economics, not something to act on this week.
Discussion angle
If you want a Malaysia angle: CKD local assembly arrived at effectively the same price as CBU — worth a two-minute check on whether 'localised' EV manufacturing in Malaysia is currently a cost story or an incentives/compliance story.
