What happened
Tom's Hardware reviewed the Sandisk Optimus GX Pro 850P 2TB SSD and found it is a WD Black SN850P by another name. The review calls it a good PS5 SSD in a mature package, but says it carries a stiff premium at $609.99 for 2TB at Amazon and Walmart. It was published on 26 September 2026 by Shane Downing.
Why it matters
If you are buying PS5 or workstation storage, treat this as a rebadged WD Black SN850P at $609.99/2TB and compare against the original or cheaper compatible drives before paying extra for the new name.
Discussion angle
Would you pay $609.99 for a 2TB PS5 SSD that is just a rebadged WD Black SN850P, or should buyers wait for sales and ignore new SSD names until independent benchmarks show real differences?
