What happened
Malay Mail Tech published a hands-on video review of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, framed as a casual 'date' with the device rather than a benchmark-heavy test. The reviewer highlights camera improvements — specifically finer control over aperture and shutter speed — and says the phone is not meant to replace a DSLR, while concluding it may not justify an upgrade if you already own a recent model.
Why it matters
Nothing here changes what a builder ships: the excerpt contains no pricing, no Malaysia availability date, no developer-relevant API, no on-device AI or tooling detail, and no performance numbers. If you are deciding whether to spend on a new phone for content or app testing, this piece gives you no concrete figure or comparison to act on — wait for benchmarks, local pricing, or developer-facing feature documentation before treating it as a buying input.
Discussion angle
Worth 5 minutes at most: ask whether anyone still upgrades phones for camera controls like aperture and shutter speed, or whether that audience has shifted entirely to dedicated cameras and AI-edited phone shots — and note that this review offers no local pricing or spec sheet to judge against.
