What happened
Malay Mail's review compares the Apple Watch Series 12 against the Apple Watch Ultra, noting the Series 12 adds improved battery life, better heart-sensor accuracy and a new 'Readiness' metric, while keeping essentially the same design and no display customisation. It starts at RM1,799 in Malaysia and is pitched as the more affordable option for health and fitness tracking rather than a true Ultra replacement.
Why it matters
There is no platform, SDK, API or AI detail in this piece — it is a consumer hardware comparison with a local price (RM1,799) and three feature changes. Unless you are specifically shipping a watchOS health/fitness feature for Malaysian users and want to know the entry price point of the device tier those users are likely on, there is nothing here that should change what you build or buy this week.
Discussion angle
Use it as a 2-minute filler: ask whether anyone in the room actually ships watchOS health features, and if not, treat the RM1,799 price point as a data point on the Malaysian consumer device ceiling rather than a dev topic.
