What happened
Samsung Galaxy Tab S12+ and S12 Ultra are now available in Malaysia, with standard pricing from RM4,999 for the S12+ WiFi to RM6,649 for the S12 Ultra 5G. A 20% education discount for valid .edu.my emails brings the S12+ WiFi to RM3,999.20 and the S12 Ultra WiFi to RM4,799.20, available from 7 October 2026. Both tablets use a 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, and bundle an S Pen, Book Cover Keyboard Slim, six months of Google AI Pro, six months of Notability, and four months of Adobe Photoshop.
Why it matters
If you have a valid .edu.my email, the 20% education discount is the only concrete saving here, cutting the S12+ WiFi to RM3,999.20. Otherwise, the launch promo until 8 November 2026 gives RM500 off the Ultra or RM400 off the S12+ via SPayLater or a participating bank card. For working developers and founders, this is a consumer Android tablet launch, not a tooling or platform change, so don't adjust your stack over it unless you specifically need a high-end Android test device.
Discussion angle
Is a RM4,000+ Android tablet worth it for mobile development or testing in Malaysia, or would that budget be better spent on a laptop or a cloud device farm? Compare the .edu.my education discount against the launch promo that ends 8 November 2026.
