What happened
Pre-orders are open for Nvidia RTX Spark laptops, with pricing starting at $2,599 across several models including a Surface Laptop Ultra. Tom's Hardware says pricing and availability have been revealed on multiple models. The excerpt provided contains no specs, benchmarks, ship dates, or configuration details — it is almost entirely subscription and membership boilerplate.
Why it matters
The only usable fact here is the entry price: $2,599. If you were holding off on a laptop refresh to see what RTX Spark costs, that number is now known, but nothing in this text tells you VRAM, memory, performance, or when it ships — so there is no basis yet to decide between this and a cloud GPU or an existing machine. Treat this as a price signal only, and wait for independent benchmarks before committing.
Discussion angle
At a $2,599 floor, at what point does buying a local-inference laptop beat renting cloud GPU time — and what specs (VRAM, memory bandwidth) would you need to see before that math works?
