What happened
Rakyat Digital's Global Learning Pass offers 100,000 free three-month Coursera Plus licenses to Malaysian citizens with an active MyDigital ID. Since sign-ups opened on 16 September, over 12,900 users have registered for more than 43,000 courses. The pass unlocks Coursera's full catalogue, including AI, machine learning, data science, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and software courses, normally priced at USD 59 (~RM240) per month, making it worth roughly RM720 per person.
Why it matters
If you are a Malaysian citizen with MyDigital ID, this is a concrete way to get three months of structured AI/ML, cloud, or cybersecurity training and certificates at no cost. Act on the details: claim via rakyatdigital.gov.my's Digital Skills Hub, use the same email as your MyDigital ID and Rakyat Digital accounts, expect an activation email within 48 hours, and activate within seven days or the spot is cancelled. The 25,000 active-spot cap and 100,000 total passes mean timing matters, but the program is a practical upskilling route rather than a new developer tool.
Discussion angle
Which Coursera certificate would you actually finish in three months, and how should Malaysian builders use it to show skills in a portfolio or hiring pipeline rather than just collecting another certificate?
