What happened
Tom's Hardware reports a Best Buy discount on Lenovo's Legion 5i gaming laptop: $850 off, described as 32% off, with RTX 5070 graphics and a 3K 240Hz display. The article is a US retail deal post and does not give Malaysian pricing, availability, warranty terms, or developer/AI benchmarks.
Why it matters
For Malaysian builders, this is only actionable if they are already shopping for a US-purchased gaming laptop; the $850/32% Best Buy discount does not establish local pricing or suitability for AI/ML workloads. Decide based on local warranty and independent GPU benchmarks, not the headline discount.
Discussion angle
Would an RTX 5070 laptop at this US discount be worth importing for local AI experiments, or does the lack of Malaysian warranty and pricing make cloud GPUs the safer default?
