What happened
Simon Willison's link blog post points to Dutch alternative rock band De Staat's 'FREEDOM' music video, flagging a moment at 00:44 that he calls a first for him, with visual effects credited to Matties Grooten of Fake it or Leave it. The post itself is one sentence plus a credit line — it never states what actually appears at 00:44, so the specific detail readers are meant to notice is not in the text. It carries his 'pelican-riding-a-bicycle' tag, but the excerpt does not explain that connection either.
Why it matters
There is no concrete builder takeaway here: no tool, version, price, API, or technical explanation is given, and the post doesn't say what happens at 00:44. Skip it for the meetup unless someone has watched the video and can describe the effect themselves — reading the post alone tells you nothing actionable.
Discussion angle
If someone on the call has actually watched the video: what was the effect at 00:44, and is it a technique the rest of us could reproduce in our own projects?
