What happened
Discord says Discoverable Servers—public servers with at least 1,000 members listed in Server Discovery—will get Server Web Pages starting November 16, 2026, and messages from public channels may appear on those pages and in web search from mid-December 2026. Admins can opt channels out now under Server Settings > Web Presence, while users can stop their messages from being shared under User Settings > Data and Privacy; usernames and avatars won’t be shown with messages. Channel summaries are generated separately and will still appear unless admins turn them off; private servers, DMs, and GDMs are excluded.
Why it matters
If you run a Discoverable Server, the default is opt-in: public channels stay on and the Server Web Page goes live on November 16, 2026 unless you change Web Presence settings, so decide before that date whether search-indexed community content is worth the exposure. If you post in such a server, you need to use the one global user setting before mid-December 2026 if you do not want your messages shown, and note that channel summaries can still surface even when personal messages are off.
Discussion angle
Ask whether public community knowledge should be search-indexed by default, and have operators check the gap between user-level message opt-out and admin-level channel summaries: what would you change in your server before November 16?
