| 05 Aug 2026, 2:44 PM | Digital News Asia | malaysia-tech | summarized | Macnica acquires majority stake in Orangeleaf Consulting to scale AI and digital transformation for Japan’s manufacturers Combine complementary strengths in deep manufacturing expertise, AI, IoT and cybersecurity Provide customers with an integrated transformation journey from application development to in-sourcing Orangeleaf Consulting Holdings Co (OLC), a Singapore-registered, Malaysian-founded digital transformation and enterprise software consultancy with operations across Malaysia, Japan and Singapore, today announced the acquisition of a majority stake by Macnica Inc. The amount was not disclosed. Headquartered in Yokohama, Japan, Macnica is a 50-year old technology solutions provider with expertise in semiconductors, cybersecurity, AI, IoT and smart manufacturing. It operates from 91 locations across 28 countries and regions. "OLC is a leading global digital transformation company with unique strengths that extend beyond agile transformation and software development to include talent development and organisational capability building," said Kazumasa Hara, President and Co-CEO of Macnica. "Since beginning our collaboration in 2024, we have been consistently impressed not only by OLC's deep expertise and execution capabilities, but also by its unwavering commitment to customer success. This partnership marks an important strategic first step for two organisations that share a common purpose: helping customers successfully navigate transformation and create lasting business value." Ellice Ng, Founding Partner and Non-Executive Director, Brand & Strategic Innovation of OLC, said the investment marks one of the company's most significant milestones. "When Tim Hendricks and I founded OLC eight years ago (2018), we started with a simple belief: technology should empower organisations to transform from within rather than leave them permanently dependent on external providers. Today, that belief has grown into a shared vision with Macnica." She said the partnership brings together Macnica's customer relationships and technology ecosystem in Japan with OLC's transformation experience, software engineering capabilities and Malaysian talent. “Together, we are building organisational capabilities, developing future-ready talent and creating a sustainable model that enables enterprises to continue innovating long after an individual project is completed." The investment builds on a partnership that began in 2024 to scale the agile transformation and DX in-sourcing model jointly developed by both companies. Using Siemens' low-code platform Mendix, the two companies said they have helped Japanese enterprises accelerate digital transformation, modernise legacy systems and build internal capabilities to develop and continuously improve their own digital solutions. Combining Japanese market strength with global transformation capabilities As AI and emerging technologies reshape industries, many Japanese enterprises continue to face shortages of DX talent, dependence on external vendors, fragmented legacy systems and limited internal capabilities to sustain long-term tran |
