EV Connection, the operator behind JomCharge, has launched JomChargeX, a new ultra-fast DC charging brand promising speeds from 200kW up to 1,200kW, with claims of charging a compatible 1,000V EV from 20% to 70% in five minutes. First deployments are at Sepang International Circuit (360kW across six nozzles, 240kW per JomChargeX unit) and XPark Sunway Serene (480kW across two nozzles), both still in private testing. TNB Electron has activated a 120kW DC fast charger with two CCS2 nozzles at the McDonald's Drive Thru in Seri Austin, Johor Bahru, priced at RM1.50 per kWh. The charger supports tap-to-pay via credit or debit card at a JuiceUP terminal with no app required, and TNB Electron offered free charging for one day only on 15 August 2026.

Why: The tap-to-pay, no-app model is a notable UX shift for Malaysian EV charging infrastructure—if you build or invest in local payment or mobility services, this signals that charge point operators are moving away from mandatory proprietary apps toward open card terminals. TNB Electron launched its largest EV charging site at Wisma TNB Seberang Jaya, Perai, with 480kW shared across 8 bays using a TELD DC Charger solution. Each nozzle is rated at 250A, capping 400V EVs at 100kW and 800V EVs at 200kW. Charging costs RM1.50/kWh via tap-to-pay at a JuiceUP terminal with no app required, with free charging offered on 15 August 2026.

Why: Minimal direct impact for this audience. The no-app, tap-to-pay payment flow via JuiceUP is the only mildly interesting infrastructure detail for anyone exploring card-based payments at unattended kiosks in Malaysia, but there is nothing here that requires a builder to change what they ship.
